SERVALS
|
(FELIS SERVAL)
|
Servals are well adapted to hunting small prey in tall grass due
to it's long and slender legs. It's neck is elongated giving it further advantage. The coat is pale yellow with rich black spots and bars on the neck and shoulders.
The Servals main source of prey are small mammals, and
insects. They do not generally take large prey as do the Caracals. The Servals have a characteristic high leap as it pounces on it's prey. Another type of leap is vertical. Birds and insects are snatched from the air by clapping the front paws together or striking with a downward blow. |
